OBJECTIVES:
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.6em;">Managers and team members wanting to get started or improve their Kanban system will be able to:

Take a pro-active, rational and well-communicated approach to continuous improvement

Achieve higher levels of both internal and external customer satisfaction, sustainably

Outline a path to increase organizational maturity, including how to overcome resistance to change

Implement simple and effective cross-boundary coordination

Use proven tools and methods to increase capability, remove delays, reduce variability and manage bottlenecks

Develop an understanding of evolutionary change and avoid the tendency for pushing disruptive, presumptive solutions

Effectively scale workflow agility without changing job titles, organization structures, or causing other disruptions

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">The purpose of these courses is to train managers to become faster and more responsive, learn better risk management and governance of the processes and results under their responsibility. The benefit to the organization is immediate increases in transparency, certainty and alignment.
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.6em;">When we say ‘foundations’ we mean after the course you will know the real deal and can started immediately by deploying ‘proto-kanban’ as you progress towards a full kanban system with limited work in progress (a true pull system).

CURRICULUM

Day 1: Expert Management to Get Things Done
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.6em;">We start the training with an honest look at organizaitonal change and what you have to face when bringing the skills and knowledge back to work. Then we look at examples of different levels of maturity in implementing the practices of the Kanban Method in real life, and see the benefits of how partial implementation still has powerful, positive impact.
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.6em;">Then we dive into how the Kanban Method naturally scales to any size organizaiton 'by design'. The secret is service-orientation, which is not understood by most people familiar with alternative agile methodologies and frameworks. We'll look at what role you might best play in your organization to improve service-orientation and delivery.
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.6em;">The remainder of the day is spent on managing work end-to-end in a workflow. Deciding what to do next (and how to know you're right), how to monitor and how to track the work (and what to look for), and how to plan downstream delivery.
<h4 style="font-size: 13px; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 1.6em;">Day 2: Expert Management Do Things Better
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.6em;">We now step up to a higher level of management. How are the decisions being made in workflow management? Are we delivering according to expectations? What can we do about it?
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.6em;">Higher again: managing the 'system of systems' and spanning multiple internal boundaries and functional silos, truly enabling end-to-end transparency and proactive management.
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.6em;">And looking ahead: identifying problems and risks to maintaining your current capability, risks to delivering what you promised, and avoiding over- and under-promising.
<h3 style="font-size: 13px; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 1.6em;">PRE-REQUISITIES
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.6em;">I strongly recommend you read one of these free short ebooks, or read either the original Kanban Method book by David J. Anderson or Kanban From the Inside by Mike Burrows. (One of these books is included in your registration - your choice).
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.6em;">This is a capstone course to prepare you for a Kanban Management Professional designation. The intended curriculum is to take KMP I before this course. Exceptions are sometimes made for people who have experience implementing the Kanban Method at work, and have already gone beyond 'Ready, Doing, Done' with their workflow management. Competency matters - it's not worth it to be overwhelmed in this course!
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.6em;">However, this course is a great fit for managers who don't oversee team activities, but people who manage multiple teams or workflows, programs, products, and functions. My stance is that it would not be necessary to take the KMP I if your situation is like this, but the practical experince of KMP I, day 2, is applicable even at the executive level and is well worth it. Please ask me if you have any questions.

Should you take this course?
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.6em;">Take this course f you are a manager.
